Easy as 1-2-3

I borrowed this from cute Sharon's blog (and yes, I think she's right about that sculpture being Mark Twain).  Enjoy.

Age: 32. Why do I feel so old?

Bed size:  Queen.  I'd like to upgrade to a King, but I'll have to be in a home larger than a 900 square foot apartment.

Chore you dislike: Scrubbing the tub.  I think it's the feet thing.  Feet gross me out.  Blood, guts, sputum, even pus (if it's not too stinky)--no problem.  But feet?  Nasty.  Especially my own.

Dogs: I love 'em.  I'm definitely more of a dog person than a cat person.  I'd like one eventually, but I have so much on my plate already that I just couldn't take good care of one right now.

Essential start to your day: Shower, Diet Coke.

Favorite color:  I go through phases of loving certain colors.  Currently, it's red.  I LOVE red.

Gold or silver: Silver, definitely, though I could go for white gold and/or platinum if I could afford it.

Height: 5 feet 9 inches, or 175 cm

Instruments you play(ed):  I think I was 6 when I started taking piano lessons.  I took them until I was about 14.  I still play the piano, though I'd consider myself a pretty mediocre player.  Also, I played the cello from 5-8th grade.  In 9th grade, I switched to the bass.  I played the bass throughout high school, then after I graduated, I just didn't have time for it anymore.

Job title: Surgical Technologist, a.k.a. O.R. Tech, or Scrub Tech.  When I finally get around to getting my national certification, I will be a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST).  I know, super-exciting.

Kids:  If you can't tell, the love of my life is Monsieur Benjamin.  There might be more eventually.

Live:  Currently: Salt Lake City, UT.

Mom's name:  Renee

Nicknames: Mare, Mary Chewy, Hey You

Overnight hospital stays:  One for a freak episode of epiploic appendagitis in 2005, and a few days after the birth of the boy.  Although I have worked many nights in hospitals, I don't think that really counts.

Pet peeve:  Messy cords.  There are a lot of cords for monitoring in the O.R..  Tubes and wires and plugs, and they all get so tangled.  Velcro is my friend.

Quote from a movie:  "You're born into a family. You do not join them like you do the Marines."  C'mon, you know what it's from!

Righty or lefty: Righty

Siblings:  Rachael (35), Rebecca (33), John (would be 30), David (28) and Sarah (26).

Time you wake up: On weekdays, the alarm is set for 4:30 a.m. so I can get to work around 6:30.  I'll usually snooze for 15 minutes or so before I roll out of bed.  On weekends, I'll usually get up around 8, unless the boy decides he wants to get up early.  Like today--he decided that 3:45 would be a good time to get up.  Yeah, it's awesome.

Underwear:  Yes, thank you.  One word for you: Carinessa.  It's delightful.

Vegetables you don't like: Okra, Lima Beans and Black-Eyed Peas.

What makes you run late: Spending too long getting ready, mostly because I'm so slow to get going in the mornings.

X-rays you've had: Lots of teeth x-rays, a brain MRI, which lead to my PFO closure under fluoroscopy (a long, real-time x-ray), some when I dislocated my shoulder, and countless shots with a c-arm (x-rays taken in the OR).

Yummy food you make: banana bread, brownies, crêpes, salads, breadsticks, GORP, and I make a mean white sauce.

Zoo animal favorite: Elephants.  So cool.

The only thing that would make Carinessa better is if they offered a 95% cotton 5% spandex choice for those of us that live in humid climates.

I thought this was so fun. I learned lots of new things about you. I may just have to try this one out myself.

I think I have been a Mary fan longer than anyone else alive. Because I have known her longer than anyone else alive. And, of course, she is deserving of adulation!

Your breadsticks are incredible. And love carinessa as well especially the new ones. They hug all the right places. :)

Carinessa!! How DID the pioneers manage?

I'm 100% impressed that you get up at 4:30 am. You're amazing! I don't know how you do it.
